Fairy Grace

I fell in love with fairies a long time ago when I saw the movie Legend. The Stamp Doctor has a beautiful line of fairy stamps that made me think of the movie. The image I chose for today is her ATC size Butterfly Fairy. I used my go to Inktense pencils for coloring. I was having a bit of trouble getting the skin quite right for what I envisioned though so I used my Copic markers (E000, E00, E02, R20 for her cheek) and voila! Perfect!!  For her eye and lips, I went back to the Inktense pencils. The sky was colored with Copic market BG10 again because I just couldn't get it quite right with my pencils. I used clear Wink of Stella on the flower centers, her thumbnail, and the butterfly. This image is so gorgeous that I had to do a background that would do it justice. I tried a few different types of medium for my background but finally decided to go with Ken Oliver's Color Bursts in Alizaren Crimson, Orange, and Lemon Yellow. OMG did it ever come our fabulous!! You may be seeing more of the color bursts in the future. To finish the card, I matted each piece on black cardstock and use foam tape behind the fairy image.  I think this is more a work of art than just a card though!! What do y'all say? I decided to do something different today and went with a super cute treat box. These boxes are a new addition to The Stamp Doctor and are available in large and small.  I have so many ideas percolating for these right now, it's crazy! So, I stamped out a few images from the Doggone Dog stamp set, colored them with my Inktense pencils and die-cut them with the coordinating dies.  This may be my first Stamp Doctor project with no glitter anywhere! (Gasp!! LOL)  Then I took the Candy Box Topper die and assembled it according to the super easy instructions which are included. There are also images on the packaging to help you get the dies aligned properly for the best results. The instructions and images make this super easy and pretty fool proof.  As a matter of fact, all of the Stamp Doctor products are made to make your creative time a breeze!! Once the top was cut, stamped and assembled, I adhered a die-cut dog bone for a little pop of color.  After assembling the box bottom, I adhered the doghouse to the inside edge of the back and the dog and bowl to the inside of the front. The "Yappy Ruffday!" sentiment is included in the stamp set.  The bottom is cute as a little 3-D decoration if you wanted to display it as such.  Once I popped the box into shape, I filled it with little dog biscuits.  Close the box, set it into the bottom, pop the top on, tie it with ribbon, adhere a biscuit to the top and this box is ready to be given to your doggie owner friends!! Sadly, I did not get the photo of the filled box. I'll upload one next time I make a box with dog treats.

Lime green is a fun color so I decided to theme a card with a bit of green today.  I dug around in my paper stash to find just the right colors  This is actually just both sides of the same sheet of patterned cardstock but it just seemed to suit for today's card.  I put a lot of dimension into this particular card.  The sentiment from TSD Simple Sentiments 3 was colored with my Inktense pencils and clear Wink of Stella, cut out and popped on foam tape.  The next panel has three strips of green glitter washi tape across the center and is also popped on foam.  Next is the brown floral layer which has pearl strips from Eyelet Outlet as a border/frame, popped on foam.  Finally, all of this is adhered to yet another piece of the same cardstock cut to card front size and adhered to the card base. Normally brown is not one of my go to colors but if all of my projects turn out this lovely, I may have to incorporate it more often!

Time is running out on The Stamp Doctor special of 10% off and free shipping with code: NEW2016. Don’t forget to enter it when ordering!!

Hand in hand, with fairy grace,
Will we sing, and bless this place.

Clap your hands if you believe in fairies!! Today I have a beautiful fairy image from the Stamp Doctor for my fairy loving friends!  This is an ATC size stamp called Thistle Fairy.  Isn't she just darling?!  I colored this image with my Inktense pencils and added clear Wink of Stella to her wings.  After all, don't all fairies have a bit of sparkle?  I matted the image on foam tape and adhered her to a background paper from my stash that I thought really complimented her.  Then I matted all of that and adhered it to the card base.  For me this was a super simple card.  The magic is in the details and the coloring of the image.

If anyone has any questions or comments, please don't be shy! I welcome y'all's feedback.  Also, for a limited time, The Stamp Doctor is  running a special for 10% off and free shipping with code: NEW2016.  Don’t forget to enter it when ordering!!

I heard pink calling my name so I had to make a card with pink on it!! LOL!  I layered some floral/paisley pattern paper onto a teal card front and adhered them to my base.  I then cut a pink strip using the center step card layers and adhered it down.  I stamped the frame from the Stamp Doctor Simple Sentiments 2 set, then stamped the sentiment and accents inside it.  I hand cut this, colored it with my Derwent Inktense pencils, layered on some clear and blue wink of stella, popped it up on foam tape and stuck it onto the card front.  The final touch was adding some light green jewel strips from Eyelet Outlet.  I also snipped off two gems and put them onto the accent images.  Easy peasy card that was done in no time!!

Does anyone have a birthday coming up?  Chances are, you know someone who does!  For today's card, I pulled out my Stamp Doctor Happy Birthday Square set.  Using the Stamp Doctor side step card layers, I cut the red square, white square and red rectangle.  On the white, square, I stamped the happy birthday square and stamped the cake inside it.  I colored the cake with my Derwent Inktense pencils and blended it out with water.  I then took a piece of Tim Holtz tissue tape and painted a light wash over it with the red Derwent pencil.  As those dried, I cut a piece of happy birthday paper from Recollections, layered it on my card front and cut a white layer and adhered it to the base.  I popped up the square and rectangle on foam tape and adhered them to the card as well.  At this point, I felt like my card was looking a bit flat.  Know why? I forgot to add my clear wink of stella to the cake!!  After doing so, I felt like it still needed something.  You can never go wrong with bling!!  I dug through my bling bin (yes, I have a whole bin!) and found some Darice adhesive back acrylic gems.  I cut that into sections and trimmed out the image panel and the tissue tape panel.  I also stuck a few teeny tiny gems on the corners of the sentiment.  Ahhhh! Now it feels complete.  Next time, I'll probably go back to my pink but sometimes it's fun to go outside of my norm.

Today I have a super fun die to share with you! It's the center pop out card die from the Stamp Doctor. This die is fun, unique and totally brilliant! It looks really complicated but is actually very easy to use. This card base may end up becoming one of my go-to dies, it's just that awesome!  I also used the center pop out layers to cut the grass after trimming it into hillsides.  The stamp set I chose to showcase on this card is Hummingbirds 1 from the Stamp Doctor.  (There is a mirror image Hummingbirds 2 set as well.)  I trimmed off some of the leaves from the trumpet flower and stuck them into the grass to fill out the scene a bit more.  The images are, as usual, colored with Derwent Inktense pencils and blended out with water.  I colored and cut an additional flower to layer on the front of the card.  The Stamp Doctor also has some connected word dies.  I chose the thinking of you sentiment, die cut it from light pink cardstock and colored it with pink wink of stella to give it that deeper rosy look.  The hummingbird has been coated with the clear wink of stella.  The sky background paper is simply patterned copy paper that I found at my local big box store.  This card turned out absolutely gorgeous if I do say so myself! (and I do, lol)

The Stamp Doctor is still currently running a special for 10% off and free shipping with code: NEW2016.  Don’t forget to enter it when ordering!!  This sale will end soon!!

Here is the second card I did using the Spread Your Wings set from the Stamp Doctor.  This one is colored with Derwent Inktense Pencils, blended out with water and coated in clear Wink of Stella.  I used the coordinating die to cut out the butterfly.  For the card base, I used the Flip Flop card die.  I found this wonderful patterned paper at Tuesday Morning which is a closeout type store with basement bargains.  I cut a white rectangle and stamped another sentiment from the set before adhering the butterfly.  I again put Kooltak clear adhesive behind the wings to give them some lift.  I also cut another white rectangle for the flip side for the sender to write a message.  This will not be the end of my butterfly cards!!
